The Djiboutian troops who are in charge of security at the Ugas Khalif International Airport in Beledweyne have responded to the shelling.
After the attack, there was also a brief gun battle between the insurgents and the Somali government forces in Gorgor Haramcad and the military in Hiraan region.
No casualties were reported from the shelling and the ensuing skirmish between government forces and Hiran insurgents near Beledweyne airport.
Beledweyne (sh.M.Network) reports from Beledweyne town in Gedo region confirm that a heavy fighting broke out between government troops backed by AMISOM forces and Al shabab fighters broke out at Beledweyne town.
The president of Hirshabelle administration has been trying to force his way to Beledweyne for a year, but this has been thwarted by armed opposition groups and civilians who oppose the existence of Hirshabelle’s second building.
