Thursday, February 24, 2022 (HOL) – The Federal Electoral Commission (FEC) says the commission appointed by the Prime Minister to resolve the dispute over the Benadiri seats has resolved the controversy.
The commission said the election has been approved and registration will begin. They called on Benadiri candidates to prepare for the upcoming elections.
The Benadiri election has recently been marred by controversy after clan-based communities complained of strong interference in the selection of elders.
The prime minister suspended the election, appointing a committee to resolve the grievances of Benadiri traditional elders.
