Saturday, March 5, 2022 (HOL) – Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and a delegation led by him recently left for Doha, Qatar on a two-day working visit.
President Farmajo and the Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will hold talks on strengthening relations and developing cooperation between the two governments.
This is the second visit by President Farmajo to Doha since the election process began.
Qatar is credited with weighing in on Farmajo’s surprise victory in the 2017 presidential election against Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
Former National Security Agency Director Fahad Yassin was the head of President Farmajo’s campaign, and is said to be behind the Doha-Farmajo deal.
