Saturday, March 5, 2022 (HOL) – Sixteen members of the Puntland lower house of parliament have been elected in Bossaso today.
There were no major elections in Bossaso, and lawmakers came out on a compromise basis, as is customary in the country’s lower house elections.
Most of the lawmakers who came out today are new faces, some of whom are close friends of Puntland President Said Deni, who has been accused of interfering in the lower house elections.
Politicians who have been in the Somali parliament for many years have failed to return.
Some are expected to speak to the media this afternoon, to present their position on the Bossaso elections.
