The committee submitted the regulation to the State Department, to recommend that the United States establish diplomatic and security relations with Somaliland, and instructed it to consult with the Department of Defense, which would return the bill to Congress for approval. .

A statement from the commission said the United States would remain a friend of Somalia and the Somali people, but at this difficult time, there was a need to work with democratic partners in the region such as Somaliland.

“As the Horn of Africa faces turmoil and instability at this time, enhancing relations with those who value democracy and fundamental freedoms in the region is crucial to advancing US interests in the region and promoting regional peace.” , support for law and order and human rights, ”the statement said.

They said the law would make it easier for the United States to gain access to the relationship, which they said would benefit both sides.

The statement came after Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi and members of his delegation met with the US House Foreign Affairs Committee.
