Saturday, March 19, 2022 (HOL) – The Jubbaland Electoral Commission (JEC) on Saturday held two by-elections in Kismayo, the capital of the Lower Jubba region.

The election of HOP 124, a seat held by Abdirahman Kulmiye Hirsi alias Abdirahman Dheere, one of the closest members of former NISA Commander Fahad Yasin Haji Dahir, has been won in recent years. Mohamed Abdirahman Nadiif received 74 votes out of all the delegates’ votes, after resigning from his rival Abdullahi Muqtar.

The other seat, HOP 029, was won by Ahmed Mohamud Jama by a show of hands this afternoon, after his rival Abdiqani Ali Isse resigned.

Jubbaland and Hirshabelle administrations are the two administrations that have not yet completed the election of seats in the House of the People, while other administrations have completed the election of seats in the 11th Parliament of Somalia.
